Hey, I’m Joshua. My family is really important to me, and although it hasn’t always been easy for us, we’re doing really well now. They are the wind at my back and, for a while now, my compass, guiding me toward a better path. Despite life’s rough hand, I’ve managed to find my way.

Being given all this time has allowed me to build a foundation I never had before, and after only a couple of years, this is the longest time I’ve ever spent in one place. It’s given me the opportunity to pursue things I always wished I had time for outside. Now, I like to spend most of my time playing guitar, drawing, and exercising—running and doing bodyweight barre routines. I recently started trying my hand at painting with watercolors.

During my incarceration, I earned my Automotive Technician Certification. I also spent a few years as a barber and have considered opening my own barbershop someday. Recently, I acquired my Peer Wellness Specialist and Certified Recovery Mentor Certifications, and I’m interested in using those opportunities to inspire others to move forward. I’ve also become more interested in a union trade and plan to take courses to become a lineman. It’s a tough field to get into, so wish me luck.

I’ll be getting out soon, and I’m hoping to connect with someone who’s looking for a friend. I want to be there for them, and maybe you’d like to be there for me as I work to overcome my past and build a better future for myself and my loved ones. Please write to me!
