So….my life did not turn out the way I thought it would…  Now, I find myself in need of friendship and support.  After many years in prison, I have the opportunity to apply to a board quarterly.  So far, I’ve received only denials.  I feel that support from people out in the world will sway the board’s opinion in my favor.  I do not claim to be innocent.  I acknowledge that I earned a prison sentence.  However, the life sentence I was given… was unjustified.  If you give me a chance to tell you my story, I’m sure you’ll agree, also!

I have long carried the labels of felon and convict.  The new labels I long for are daughter, sister, friend, partner, and most importantly; a FREE survivor of the prison system.  Will anyone out there offer me kindness, encouragement, support, friendship and just a simple conversation?  The rusted chains of prison moons are shattered by the sun.  You could bring sunshine into my world with just a few words.
